The University of Malta Language School eCommerce portal is a finalist in the Best B2C category

The MULS web site provides extensive information to prospective students about the different types of courses provided, accommodation options, programmes and leisure activities.

Users can also take an online test which assesses their level of knowledge of the English Language. The results of this test can guide prospective students towards which course is most suitable for them.

The web site provides a comprehensive quotation system which allows users to calculate the exact costs involved with regards to their course, accommodation and related activities.

Prospective students can then proceed to make their online purchase and payment for the desired courses. Considering the complexity of this booking process, which includes several different aspects from tuition availability and starting dates together with accommodation and leisure options, the main focus was to provide an easy to use registration and payment system.

The greatest majority of students at the MULS are foreigners who may have varying requirements in terms of VISA, residence permits and accommodation. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was to provide a single ‘point of registration’ for all these services and activities, whilst maintaining a good level of usability for the process.

In order to achieve this requirements, the registration process is developing through custom-built modules on the Drupal Content Management System, which integrate the various functionalities in a homogeneous way, ensuring a positive user experience through the process.

Communication between user browser and the web server is conducted in a secure way through the use of SSL certificates for data encryption. All payments are processed through a PCI certified environment.
