Seasus maintains, supports and enhances the Traceability system behind Malta's Quality Policy Unit (QPU), which tracks produce carrying a recognised quality mark from the farm or parcel where it was grown through to the finished product.
Producers looking to register a quality mark for a Maltese agricultural product submit an application through a dedicated eForms platform, linking it to the specific farm or agricultural parcel involved. Once received, a QPU official reviews the application and, where needed, arranges an on-the-spot inspection carried out by an inspector or control body to verify the details before the application is approved.
Once approved, the system tracks the product through each stage of its production, from a single producer or processor through to groups of producers, with every stage carrying its own checklist of questions and recording the batch numbers, quantities and dates involved. Each new batch can be linked back to the batch numbers it was produced from, so a finished product can be traced back through every stage it passed through on the way to market.
The system integrates with the eForms platform through web services, importing approved applications automatically rather than requiring data to be re-entered by QPU staff, and keeps a full version history of every record so any change can be reviewed against what it replaced.
Seasus continues to maintain and support the Traceability system and deliver enhancements as the Quality Policy Unit's requirements evolve, keeping the platform reliable for the producers, inspectors and officials who depend on it.
