Online Applications System for MCAST Full-Time Courses

During a press conference today at the MCAST Main Campus, Principal Mr. Frank Edwards announced the introduction of a new e-government service that enables prospective students to post their applications for full time courses online.

At the presentation, Mr. Kenneth Bone, Managing Director of Seasus explained the process how interested students can post their application for any of the full-time courses offered by the various MCAST Institutes through the new web site at www.mcastcourses.gov.mt

The unveiling was attended by Hon. Dr. Austin Gatt, Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology and Hon. Dr. Louis Galea, Minister of Education, Youth and Employment, who iterated the commitment and support of their respective Ministries towards such initiatives.

Seasus was commissioned in 2006 to develop a complete online solution to provide this e-government service.

The project presented various technical and administrative challenges, particularly the integration in real time between the web site and the MCAST Management Information System that processes the received applications.

The online application system through the web site is activated during the period, commonly two weeks every year, when intakes of new clients are open.

The Seasus eBridge Web Site Management Framework provides the functionality that enables MCAST staff to maintain and monitor the content or the site and applications received, together with generating comprehensive reports on applicant activities on the web site.
