Diamonds are Seasus' Best Friends!

New App for GABA Diamonds

For the second time round we’ve had the pleasure of developing an app for GABA –Malta’s renowned brand in the jewellery market, this time for one of its finest branches within their business – GABA Diamonds.

Launched on Monday 21 May 2012 and right in the middle of the favourite weddings month, the GABA Diamonds QUIZ is a mixture of general knowledge and fun challenge aimed at entertaining GABA Diamonds existing and potential clients, mainly those who are thinking of getting engaged and/or married, or celebrating an anniversary.

Potentually having a vast audience, the app encompasses a wide variety of quiz questions to test one’s general knowledge on diamonds, from the diamond mines to the film industry , history and beliefs. The fun in this quiz is the time challenge, whereby users are timed on the duration to answer the 10 questions, randomly loaded by our back end software. Needless to say, the winners of the quiz will be those who correctly answer most questions in the least number of seconds/minutes possible.

And the reward is more than worthy of the challenge, being nothing less than a round 0.33ct diamond stone, brilliant cut and certified PLUS a ring or pendant in 18kt white gold from GABA Diamonds, worth €1,500! Not to mention the consolation prizes for the 2nd and 3rd placed – a Korloff pen and a Korloff cufflinks – Korloff Paris is one of the leading brands at GABA Diamonds.

Users have a total of 3 tries daily, each with a set of 10 questions related to the diamond business. The viral approach is already proving its value within Facebook’s social environment because in a matter of just a few hours, hundreds of users were trying their luck playing at the quiz and inviting their friends to challenge them!

The challenge for our team was one – getting the app ready within a very short timeframe in order to accommodate our client’s urgent requests. Design was immediately and positively well receiving by GABA, and therefore it didn’t take long to get on with the development stages, ensuring the mechanics of the quiz worked to perfection.

Apart from the app, Seasus also took care of launching the new GABA Diamonds presence on Facebook by means of a professional business page, twinned with the app.

About GABA Diamonds

Origins

From a young age, Arthur Satariano aspired to work in the diamond trade and his wish came true through some contacts who led him to a diamond cutting factory in Canada in the late 1960's.

The political and economic climate in Malta at the time gave investors limited options where to invest, and so gold and diamonds became a more attractive option. This was seen as a business opportunity for GABA and after three years in Canada, Arthur imported his know-how to Malta where he set up the first diamond cutting factory in 1972. He passed on some of his acquired skills to his brother Albert and raised enough capital with two other shareholders, Samuel and Anthony Cremona.

GABA became the first diamond cutters on the island and the largest dealers in gold bullion.

Development

In 1973 the Company expanded its operations and entered into the retail business on high-end quality diamonds, eventually expanding into diamond jewellery design and production too. Between 1975 and 2000, 80% of GABA’s market was dominated by the distribution of diamonds, gold bullion, silver jewellery, 18ct gold, diamond jewellery, frames and household gifts to a network of local jewellers.

Economic and political changes rendered importation more viable than local cutting and the factory ceased its operations in 1995.

The Present

The company structure consists of GABA Co. Ltd, owning GABA Diamonds and GABA Gioielli. Today the business is run by the second generation of the Satariano family namely Lee Satariano, Wayne Satariano and Sue Satariano.
