A SIREN Sighting at Seasus!
Our company first in Malta to win a Eurostars Project

On the morning of Wednesday 27th July 2011, Economy, Finance and Investment Minister Tonio Fenech and SMEs parliamentary secretary Jason Azzopardi made an official visit to the Seasus offices in Mosta, in view of a recently-awarded EU funded project which the micro-company has participated in.
Appropriately-named SIREN (Sights on Recommendation Engine), the project is aimed mostly at the tourism industry in the form of a personalised service available on smartphones and social media. Its objective is to develop a customisable tour recommendation service which can be easily deployed and adapted for cities around the world through automated harvesting, aggregation and categorisation algorithms, together with an intelligent peer recommendation system.
This project is part of Eurostars, which falls under the large Eureka umbrella, dedicated to SME's and micro-businesses, co-founded by the European Communities and 33 EUREKA member countries.
Seasus is the first company in Malta to have been awarded funds for such an innovative project with a total budget of 609,000 Euros. The project will be developed in consortium with another two project partners, Apprise and Mindstone, both Estonian. Seasus will be responsible for R&D on the technology platform, social media integration on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and other networks, automated data harvesting tools and the first experimental deployment in Malta, featuring Valletta and Mdina.
Whilst at the Seasus offices, Minister Tonio Fenech and SMEs parliamentary secretary Jason Azzopardi were introduced to the members of staff by Kenneth Bone, Managing Director, who later delivered a short presentation about the company's 16 year history and the new challenges it is embracing.
He explained how Seasus specialises in the development of comprehensive web-based systems through 7 pillars of service: web development, mobile applications, VOIP, eLearning, online gaming, payment processing and corporate social media marketing. ‘Our diverse expertise allows us to embark into such complex projects which require interoperability between different platforms, delivery channels and functionality.”
The Minister expressed his admiration towards Seasus, which despite being a micro-company, has a workforce capable of engaging such a challenging project.
The SIREN project will span over 2 years.
